A look back at Christmas Minis 2015-2022

While I prepare for Christmas Minis 2023, I thought it would be nice to take a trip down memory lane and dig up some sweet pics from years gone by. Gosh they grow too darn fast! Look at those little sweet faces. My advice, take the picture or get the picture taken, always. Time is a thief! Cannot wait to see some more sweet faces in just over a weeks time!

Chelsea & Mathew's Maternity Session

On a beautiful spring evening in May, I had the pleasure of photographing a maternity shoot for my dear Brother and Sister In Law, Mathew & Chelsea. We headed to Centennial Park in Dundas where the blossoms were perfect, and the weather was amazing. Chelsea & Mathew are expecting twins this summer, so we wanted to do the maternity shoot a little earlier, and I think that was such a great choice, allowing Chelsea that little bit more movement, while showcasing her beautiful bump in that amazing dress.

It means so much to me to be asked to photograph any expectant parents because it is such a special moment in a family’s life to capture, but getting to do this for my Brother and Sister in Law was something truly wonderful and I kept getting teary eyed while editing!

Thank you for trusting me with your precious moments and allowing me to shuffle you around to follow the changing light. You both looked stunning amongst the blossoms and the photographs ended up looking so dreamy.

I can’t wait to hold those little boys! But not too soon, right?

Eggs for sale!

A sweet indoor farm set up for Easter 2023! These wonderful helpers loved painting the eggs, watering the flowers and getting to play “farm”. Happy Easter everyone!

Ben & Maddie's Farm Adventure

It is always such a pleasure to get to photograph the children of your closest friends. Getting to watch them grow and capture these moments in time means the world to me, and I consider myself so lucky to get to work with these two cuties once more!

Ben & Maddie had so much fun playing with our sweet little Spring Farm set up and they were even kind enough to bring their real life bunny, Winter along for the adventure! As you can imagine, I was quite excited that a real bunny joined us! Thank you to Ben and Maddie for bringing your beautiful smiles and being so patient, and to Winter who did very well and stayed pretty calm considering our dog was barking in the yard outside.

Happy Spring everyone! Thank you Ben and Maddie for all your help on the farm today.

Aaron's Egg Adventure

Little Aaron came to visit our mock up indoor farm and really enjoyed checking out all the props and investigating! He was particularly fond of putting all the eggs from the carton into the basket and collecting the eggs as they rolled away from him. This little sweetheart was such a delight to work with and i’m sure he will have many more Spring adventures when the weather turns warm. Thanks for sharing your smiles with us, sweet Aaron!

Nicole, Rick & Family

On a very windy Fall day, we all braved the flying leaves and chaos and I photographed this beautiful family amongst the last hoorah of the Fall colours . The colour change from 2 weeks prior on the exact same trail was stark, but I really enjoyed working with the beautiful earthy tones in this shoot and the challenge of placing a much more prominent sun. This family are dear friends of ours, and I feel like I am watching their babies grow up alongside our own. It was an absolute pleasure to get to photograph these friends who I consider family, and really try and capture the sweetness that I get to see every day at school drop offs. Please enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Yolanda, Mark & Family

Photographing this beautiful family in these vibrant Fall colours was an absolute dream, and the boys brought their A-game smiles for me as you can see! We got so unbelievably lucky with the weather, not only was it dry and sunny, but it was warm also - no mittens or beanies necessary.

Please enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking and editing them.

Noly's 1st Birthday Cake Smash!

I cannot believe I am already typing these words! After an absolute whirlwind of a year, our sweet, funny little man is turning 1 this weekend. We are marking this occasion with a cake smash photo shoot, and lots of family time on his actual Birthday since the big party is out of the question. I’m hoping that just focusing on all the things that make him smile on his special day, will show him just how much we love him and how grateful we are to have him in our lives. Hopefully the big extended family/friends party will be in his future, maybe next year. For now, balloons, cake, presents and LOTS of love and laughs with us and his sister who absolutely thinks the world of him. Nolan has a few choice words in his vocabulary… he can say “Soother”, “Kaylee”, “Fruit” and of course “A CAR” which is what he says at full volume any time he sees something with wheels. Our inquisitive boy loves all things that move and will engage in a game of throw/catch happily; he actually has quite the arm already. Little guy can stand unaided and is very close to his first steps, and is getting more daring with climbing on top of furniture and climbing the stairs (with us right behind him of course). He LOVES a good dance party and his face lights up any time a song comes on, or is sung to him. Our boy is VERY ticklish which makes getting a giggle very easy. He has such a relaxed and pleasant temperament, with people commenting (over video chat of course) on how he is instantly smiley the second you walk into his room to wake him up. Nolan has brought us so much joy this last year, he has made a very tough year very enjoyable within our home. We love you so much Noly Bear. Happy 1st Birthday.

Rock on, 'lil guy.

So I saw this Red Hot Chili Peppers onesie online and I just COULDN’T resist putting little man in a 90s outfit, showcasing his wild and wonderful hair, and letting him play with my bass and seeing what happened (very daring I know). He absolutely loved the bass, and loved slapping the strings which was just a delight to see! While the Chili Peppers may not be my favourite band of all time, their music definitely influenced me throughout the years and It felt like a perfectly “Us” little one year shoot alongside his cake smash. I hope you have as much fun looking at these as we did taking them.

Christmas 2020

2020 has brought many challenges to a lot of us, but it also brought me the happiest baby around, sweet Nolan. Him and his sister have been such a light in such a dark year, and they always keep me entertained, smiling and VERY busy. Watching their relationship with each other blossom has been one of my life’s greatest joys. We will miss all our friends and family dearly this year, especially because we were hoping to spend it in England so Nolan could meet my side of the family, and so I could experience my first English Christmas in 10 years, but it wasn’t meant to be. We are all keeping to ourselves and keeping safe so that we can all be together again when the time is right. I hope you and your family find comfort in the holiday season, and that you all stay healthy and stay safe.

Christmas in July!

Ahhh Christmas 2019… you truly were a simpler time.

So I realised when organising my files that I never actually uploaded any of the Christmas Minis 2019 photos to my website! I’m assuming this was because I was 6 and a half months pregnant, very exhausted and large and the second I got done with the editing I was DONE with photography until little man was born. Either way this seems like a crime considering how cute the set up and photos turned out!

Here is a selection of my favourites of Miss Bean and as you can tell she had an absolute blast and was a super star for the shoot. Those little jammies and elf ears give me all the festive feels, even if it is 40 degrees outside right now.

We had lots of families participate but I will speak with them before sharing any of their photos.

Christmas Minis 2019 were taken in November 2019 to allow time for editing and for families to get their Christmas Cards made. Enjoy a taste of Christmas in July!

Noly at 5 months

Little Noly turns 5 months old early next week, but since we were out on a family park trip and I had my husbands help with him and my toddler, I took advantage, grabbed my Canon and decided to take a few quick pics of him enjoying the grass. Nolan is such a happy little chap, he knows what he likes and he will make it very known the minute he starts to get tired, but he’s a great sleeper so that’s ok by me. This little smiler is so strong, he has been working on his sitting since he turned 4 months old, starting with the froggy sit, and now all of a sudden is able to sit up straight, grab toys and bring them to him to play and chew, and catch himself from all angles - the only thing is he is trying to master how to get out of the sit, so we still have to make sure he doesn’t take a fast tumble and land on his sweet little face. Some of his favourite things include Baby Beluga by Raffi, If you’re happy and you know it, chewing anything chewable including my fingers, dancing with Mummy, playing games with Daddy, and endlessly watching his sister and learning from her. Kaylee is Nolan’s whole world, quite literally since the poor guy doesn’t get to go out very much and see many other humans right now, at least not close up… but she takes her big sis role very seriously and dotes on him. The two of them have such a special relationship - it’s magical to behold.

Nolan at 3 Months

This little guy was not in the mood to be photographed and I think we missed the happy window by approximately 5 minutes, he’s usually such a smiley guy! But since he was feeling a little more serious I figured i’d roll with it in edit. The insane business that is having a 3 month old, and a 3 year old to look after during a lock down means I didn’t have much time to set up for these… the blanket with foam mats underneath was a total impromptu necessity as I didn’t want him just giving up on tummy time given how grouchy he was and flopping down on the concrete. Anyways, they turned out cute either way!

K & N at one month

These two have been bouncing colds back and forth since we brought N home, so I had to wait until N was a bit bigger and they were both clear of snot to take their sibling pictures. I’m actually glad now that we waited. Although I couldn’t pose N into adorable newborn positions, and he barely fits into K’s lap anymore, his alertness added a certain sweetness to the sibling pics - he can adoringly look right back at her.

Welcome, Jordyn Deborah Isabel Petro

This adorable little sweetheart was born July 28 2019 weighing a perfect 7.9lbs. Not only was I lucky enough to meet this precious little squish this past weekend and celebrate her birth with my dear friends, I also got to photograph Jordyn and her beautiful family at their home. This session was the first time I’ve attempted a newborn shoot combined with a few posed family photos and some lifestyle candid moments of the family just getting to know one another at home - I am so thrilled with how they all turned out. Jordyn is already so interested in everything and always looking around for Mama. She didn’t fall asleep for us once, but I managed to snap a few peaceful blinks in between the rolling and stretching - she’s just too sweet. Big Sister Taylor was amazing and patient and it just warms the heart to see the two of them together.
Congratulations, Lauren, Jeff and Taylor, your new little one is absolutely perfect. Thank you for inviting me into your home among the chaos and allowing me to capture these special moments for you.

Little Miss at 6 months

So far 6 months is a lot of fun! K is now sitting unaided for long periods of time, making playtime a lot easier on mummy, and we also started the adventure of food!   Today a good friend from prenatal class brought her little one over for a Hallowen Costume shoot, and I took the opportunity to snap a few more of K at this amazingly cute age, dressed in a sweet little fall number.  I even broke my own rule of orange and pink together for this one! Enjoy!

Little Owl, Halloween 2017

A quick and very last minute Halloween shoot with a 6 month old little owl who just learned to sit!  Unfortunately I couldn't find my flash diffuser for the inside photos so they aren't as sharp as i'd like, but you gotta do what you gotta do.  Enjoy!
